“I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become” - Carl Jung
If you’re anything like me, you realize that the older you get, the less you seem to know! I have always been fascinated by the “why” of things. Why are we on this earth? Why do we behave the way we do? What makes us who we are? I find this life so mysterious, but at the same time so wondrous! I’m so grateful to have the opportunity, as a therapist, to help my clients discover some of these wondrous gems, walking alongside them in their journeys, making sense of their worlds.
I am passionate about working with people who have experienced great difficulty in life, whether the difficulty results from childhood or more recent trauma or setbacks, and I love facilitating discoveries that surprise and delight. I also feel so privileged to witness moments of my clients’ reconnection to life, to others, to themselves, and to their purpose. What excites me most is the transformational aspect that therapy can bring.
As a collaborative therapist, I will to join with you in your story, walking alongside you in an accepting and non-judgemental way, applying a mindful approach and tailoring my interventions based on your needs or presenting problem, whether this is anxiety, depression, stress, burnout, trauma, bereavement, life stage transitions or relational difficulties.
I provide individual therapy within the following modalities: EFT (Emotionally Focussed Therapy), ACT (Acceptance Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and MBCT (Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy), and soon EMDR, and in couples therapy: EFT for Couples, and The Gottman Method.
I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) in British Columbia, and a Counselling Psychologist in South Africa. I have over 25 years experience in the areas of social development in South Africa as well as 13 years experience as a Psychologist. I have facilitated an MBCT group for the treatment of depression as well as workshops on Stress and Burnout, Relationships and Marriage, Bereavement, and Parenting Skills.
Life can be so confusing, stressful and anxiety-provoking, and for many there is a sense of isolation and shame in merely surviving. I want to help you not only survive, but to thrive, to find joy and peace in your life once again, or perhaps for the first time in your life. At the very least I’d like you to know that you are not alone.

"Healing takes courage, and we all have courage, even if we have to dig a little to find it." - Tori Amos
I once asked a therapist why I didn’t heal out of session the same ways I did in session. She gently reminded me that, “Christy, we are designed for connection.”
This statement has really stuck with me because we know that trauma happens in isolation and healing happens in connection. So as a therapist, that’s what I desire to gift you with; connection, a place of safety to heal and practical tools to use outside of session so that you can better navigate all that comes your way, knowing that together you can heal/grow.
Who do I work with? I work with youth 14+, young adults and adults. Men have often stated they feel comfortable with me for the first time in their therapy experiences, and I have decades of experience working with youth in the school system and currently in the world of running.
Although I will tailor the session to you, there are 3 belief systems that gently guide how I do that.
I am very practical. So I bring in tools/strategies in our conversations that you can use when we are not together, to better understand how you are experiencing life and respond to stress.
I am trained in EMDR, it’s a neat therapy that helps your body let go of thoughts when they are stuck in a loop, or you need to heal from an event. It’s a wonderful therapy that includes the body, and not just talking.
Narrative therapy is simply the awareness that there’s a story below everything that we do. When we change the story, we change the experience. So I love to bring that in.
Outside of my counselling world I am a passionate triathlete, currently training for Ironman 70.3 World Championships in Spain, so I have a base in navigating hard times, dreaming big and excelling in ways you never could imagine possible; and that’s what I believe for you, and hold as my foundation when we meet.
I’d love to meet you!
Please note: If you send me an email, I will respond, if you don’t get one, please check your junkmail/spam, it might be hiding.

"We don't heal in isolation, but in community." - S. Kelley Harrell
As a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I am deeply committed to guiding individuals on their journey toward healing, self-awareness, and fulfillment. With extensive experience working with a diverse range of clients—from young children immersed in play therapy to adolescents, young adults, and seniors—I have cultivated a nuanced understanding of the unique challenges and triumphs that each age group faces. My areas of expertise encompass a wide array of issues, including anxiety, depression, complex trauma, grief and loss, ADHD, and Autism, among others. This breadth of experience enables me to connect with clients on various levels, fostering a therapeutic relationship built on trust and empathy.
One of the most rewarding aspects of my work is witnessing the transformative moments when clients experience breakthroughs—those enlightening instances where they gain clarity on their experiences or process their emotions in a significant way. It’s truly magical to see the “aha” moments unfold, and it fuels my dedication to this field. These moments are not just milestones; they represent the healing journey's potential and the resilience inherent in each individual.
I take a flexible and integrative approach to counselling, employing evidence-based methodologies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Narrative Therapy. My aim is to tailor these techniques specifically to meet the unique needs of each individual. I believe that the therapeutic process should be as unique as the person seeking help, and I strive to create a warm, welcoming environment where you feel truly seen, heard, and understood. In this supportive space, you can freely explore your thoughts and feelings, knowing that you are in a safe and non-judgmental setting.
Guided by a trauma-informed, client-centered philosophy, I adapt my methods to best support your personal journey. I emphasize the importance of meeting you where you are and collaboratively reframing your experiences in a nurturing space. Together, we can delve into the patterns that shape your life, fostering insights that pave the way for meaningful change and deeper self-awareness. I firmly believe that understanding our behavioral patterns is a crucial step toward cultivating the motivation needed to create lasting transformation.

"Study nature, love nature, stay close to nature. It will never fail you." - Frank Lloyd Wright
I’m passionate about helping people who are seeking real, lasting change—whether in their relationships or within themselves. I work with individuals navigating anxiety, trauma, neurodivergence, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm, as well as with couples who feel disconnected, stuck in conflict, or are longing to reconnect. Many of the people I support come to therapy knowing something needs to shift, and they’re ready to begin that process with intention and care.

A unique and meaningful part of my practice includes nature-based therapy. For many, connecting with the natural world can offer a powerful sense of grounding, calm, and clarity. I’ve found this approach especially supportive for clients with ADHD and those on the autism spectrum, as the sensory and regulatory benefits of being in nature can promote focus, reduce stress, and provide a more embodied experience of therapy. Nature-based sessions can also foster a deeper connection to self and offer an alternative to traditional indoor spaces—whether that’s through mindful walks, outdoor reflection, or simply integrating nature metaphors and rhythms into our work.
As a counsellor, I bring a calm, grounded presence shaped not only by my training, but by my lived experience. I value honesty, curiosity, and deep compassion, and aim to create a space where clients feel truly seen, supported, and never judged. My role is to walk alongside you—whether you're navigating inner challenges or working to strengthen your most important relationships.
I work from a collaborative and integrative lens, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Emotion Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), and the Gottman Method. For couples, I help partners identify and break unhelpful patterns, communicate more effectively, and rebuild trust and emotional intimacy. Together, we develop practical tools while also exploring the deeper dynamics that shape how you relate.
I know life can be overwhelming—and that many people carry a quiet sense of isolation as they try to keep going. My hope is to help you move beyond just surviving, and toward a fuller, more connected experience of life. You don’t have to do it alone.
If you're curious about working together, I invite you to reach out for a free 15-minute consultation.

"The journey is never ending. There's always gonna be growth, improvement, adversity; you just gotta take it all in." - Antonio Brown
As a practicum counselling student, I am deeply passionate about the transformative power of therapy and the profound, trusting relationships that develop throughout the therapeutic journey. I firmly believe that therapy provides a unique opportunity for individuals to create a safe and supportive space where they can explore, share, and reflect on the many facets of their lives—especially those pieces they may have struggled to confront. Holding space for clients in this way is both an honor and a privilege, and I am wholeheartedly committed to ensuring that my clients feel heard, respected, and empowered throughout our work together.
My approach to therapy is eclectic, as I recognize that no single modality can effectively address the diverse needs of each individual. I draw upon a variety of therapeutic techniques to meet clients where they are, adapting my approach to best support their unique experiences and goals. In addition to traditional cognitive talk therapy, I have developed a keen interest in somatic experiencing and nervous system regulation. I understand the critical connection between the body and mind, and I believe that addressing both aspects is essential for holistic healing. By integrating these elements, I aim to help clients build resilience, process past trauma, and develop a deeper understanding of their emotional and physical well-being.
Throughout my training, I have had the privilege of working with individuals from various backgrounds, each with their own unique stories and challenges. This experience has reinforced my belief that every person possesses the strength and capability to overcome obstacles and achieve personal growth. I strive to create an environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their thoughts and feelings, allowing for genuine exploration and healing.
I offer individual, couples, and family counselling, recognizing that the dynamics of relationships can play a significant role in one’s mental health and overall well-being. I approach each session with empathy and an open mind, ensuring that the therapeutic process is tailored to the specific needs of each client or family unit. My goal is to foster a collaborative relationship where clients feel empowered to take an active role in their healing journey.
Understanding the importance of accessibility, my session rates begin at $90, and I am committed to providing quality therapeutic support. I also offer a complimentary 15-minute consultation to allow potential clients to discuss their needs and determine if my approach aligns with their goals.
If you are seeking a compassionate and dedicated practitioner to support you on your path to healing and self-discovery, I invite you to reach out.
